Child of Promise

The child of Promise is standing in the midst of all of the swirling issues and paradigms going on in his world.
Inside of his heart is a raging fire with Psalm 40 inscribed in Hebrew.
Psalm 40:1-3
"I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me,
And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,
And set my feet upon a rock,
And established my steps.
He has put a new song in my mouth-
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear,
And will trust in the Lord."

All of these elements are things that this man is pondering and questioning about life and the world around him.
-Columns of different women and next to it reads,"Pretty?"
-He's questioning what society, the media and the his cultural surroundings have done to sway his view of
true beauty.
-War, taxes and the word "spend" are inlayed.

There's a sheet of music that has been badly tattered and worn. The musical note that is painted in orange represents the fire with in him composing a new song.

Medium: Acrylic paint, magazine/newspaper cutouts and rubber cement.(SOLD)

Rushing Wind

This painting came about from an inspirational moment in spontaneous worship. I saw a stained glass window with figures of the saints surrounding it and I was just sucked in. It is from St. Peters church. So, the dove was planned and the music sheets came about in the creative thought process.

Medium: Permanent marker and acrylic paint. The backdrop is cut outs of music sheets.(FOR SALE)

Ode to Gretchen

These women are two alter egos of the same person.
One is the way that she sees herself and the other is the way that God sees her.

The woman on the right is her internal perception of who she is:
-Dull of color or diversity
-Her hands and face are worn down because she has served so frequently that she has lost
sight of who she truly is. Her head is also held in a lowly state.
-The stitches over her heart are a symbol of the wounds that have been patched up

The woman on the left represents Gods view of her:
-Dressed in purple, the color of royalty
-Holding a white flower symbolizing peace
-Wearing a crown showing her high position
-Full detail of her hair and facial structure are shown. She is gazing confidently ahead for she knows who she is
and is not ashamed.

The roses around these two women fade gradually from black/white to full of color. On the right side is dullness, uniformity and lack of life. On the left is vibrant color, diversity and fullness of redemption.

Medium: Pencil drawings of the individuals roses, acrylic paint on top of the roses and stained glass photocopy. (SOLD)
